About this event

Presented by:
Matthew Jerram, PhD

About the Webinar:
In the past few years, many neuropsychologists have been bombarded with requests for assessment by adults concerned about undiagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or Autism Spectrum Disorder.  These referrals present challenges for neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis for myriad reasons.  Among these reasons was determining the role of chronic developmental trauma in the etiology of the reported problems. In this webinar, Dr. Jerram will discuss the nature of chronic trauma and the concept of complex PTSD, its cognitive impacts, and the degree to which those impacts can present as other concerns.  He will also discuss ways to assess a history of trauma in the context of a neuropsychological assessment and provide meaningful recommendations to these individuals.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the impact that chronic trauma experienced in childhood has on adult cognitive functioning.
  2. Differentiate the presentation of cognitive impacts of trauma from common presentations of ADHD and ASD.
  3. Identify possible interventions and recommendations for individuals who experience adult cognitive consequences of chronic trauma.
